Kyle Steffens sidelined by motor woes in Bettenhausen 100

Kyle Steffens unloaded his Performance Plus Global Logistics No. 8 USAC Silver Crown entry at Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield, Ill.) on Saturday afternoon for the 60th Bettenhausen 100 presented by Hunt Brothers Pizza.

With the top-24 qualifiers in Honest Abe Roofing Qualifying getting locked into the 100-lap main event, Steffens secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win Bettenhausen 100 with the 16th-fastest time trial effort. Rolling off on the eighth row, Kyle was up to 12th when he ran into motor failure with 20 laps remaining, ending his night early. He was scored 25th in the final rundown.
